St. Anne’s Church begins the Catholicism Project (in the Lille sal) on 20.09.2011 from 18.30 – 21.15 and continues the following 12 Tuesdays.

What is Alpha course?

The Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith. The course runs for 12 weeks in arelaxed, non-threatening, low key, and friendly atmosphere. There is a warm meal at the beginning of each session that gives you an opportunity to meet new friends. Listen, learn, discuss, discover, and ask anything. The Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or too hostile. The course is supported by all main Christian denominations.

What is involved?

The Alpha course consists of a series of talks looking at topics such as “Who is Jesus” and “Why and How Do I Pray?” After each talk we divide into small discussion groups.

Who is Alpha for?

• those who want to investigate Christianity
• new Christians
• newcomers to the church
• those who want to brush up on the basics

What will it cost?

There is no charge for the Alpha course, although you may be asked to make a contribution towards food.

Dear Companions!

Welcome back to activity from summer holidays! I hope you’ve had a wonderful time during these day with a good combination of rest and edifying activities At least, I know that Tony got a big blessing during the WYD in Madrid and Martin at the International Youth Prayer Meeting in Medjugorje. I am happy that the Companions group had some representatives there! Probably some of our old Companions were also there and in other inspiring events. I hope you got touched there and will spread the light to the ends of the Earth!

Companions comes back on September, so our first day is the 1st of September. This first day of Companions will be a welcoming session for the new students arriving to Denmark and for all those old Companions who are still here. We will meet at 18h30 in the parish hall in Sankt Knud Lavard Church for the welcome dinner.

As you may know, Neringa got the job in Brussels (Thanks Lord!) and I am planning to search for a job there and to face new challenges. I am planning to leave Denmark during October, after handing in my PhD thesis and close most of the issues that I still have open at university. Before I say goodbye, I would like to encourage new people take over the ministry of Companions. That’s why, despite all difficulties, I feel moved to continue the meetings of Companions during the month of September. I kindly ask you to pray that the Lord will send servants to continue doing His job.

The plan of activities for the month of September is:

• September 1st: Welcome dinner / sharing of the summer experiences
• September 8th: Gospel shared / faith sharing prayer
• September 15th: Martin will talk about his experiences in the youth festival in Medjugorje
• September 22nd: Prayer in the spirit of Taize
• September 29th: Movie evening “Babette’s feast”

From the second session (on September 8th) we will meet at 18h30 for a dinner and will start the activity of the day at 19h30. If anyone would like to share his/her cooking skills with the rest of the Companions, please let me know and we can agree on the most convenient evening to cook.

I would like to wish you a good semester starting from now.
May God bless you and fill you with energies to do your activities bringing joy and good mood to the closest ones!

After the mass, we will watch the movie “Ordet/The Word”, a Danish film from 1955 directed by Carl Th. Dreyer, that won the golden Lion of Venice, and a Golden Globe for best foreign film. The film is based on the play by the Lutheran pastor Kaj Munk, who was killed by the Nazis during World War II. The movie is in Danish with English subtitles. Fr. Daniel Nørgaard will give an introduction to the film.
